Vista's User Account Control (UAC) stops traditional automatic update mechanisms
from working and requires standard users to 'elevate and authenticate' to computer
Administrators in order to receive updates. Even computer Administrators are
prompted by UAC before updates can be successfully applied. This stops many of the
traditional mechanisms built into software for delivering updates from working
correctly.
